Sample Mini Maternity Session
Working an in-home maternity session is a creative outlet. It inspires the question, what does an in-home maternity session look like? It can be anything. My previous 10+ years as a creative director behind every single shoot, I can create anything for you. We chose to recreate a very popular image from Pinterest. Pregnancy photo shoots need not be complicated. Sometimes the simplest images are the most loved since they are timeless.
In-Home Maternity Requirements
For this maternity session in particular, we just needed a blank white wall to give it that studio vibe. The home had an office with a large south-facing window that offered very pretty lighting and a white wall. The best wall to use faced the window, which isn’t ideal. Lighting straight-on creates flat-looking portraits and hides the dimension in the face. The wall that was adjacent to the window, which would have made for a better lighting situation, had a large office desk against it. It was simply too large to move, so I settled for the opposite wall space and worked her angles. Some magazines shoot using bright, flat lighting to cast shadows onto the wall with their models. This in-home maternity session was meant to capture that vibe.
