In-Home Photography VS Studio
As a lifestyle photographer, I take the time to tour your home and draw inspiration from your space. This is the most intimate setting we can shoot in. For example, this is where you lay your head to sleep. Your home is where you raise your children. Your home is your safe space and your sanctuary. As your lifestyle photographer, it is my job to pick up on the nuances and tiny details that make your home so special. As a lifestyle photographer, I need to capture your essence along with your home and produce a gallery of images that resonate with your soul. My job is not complete until I hear those magical words come out of your mouth.
Behind-The-Scenes
I thoroughly enjoy coming to people’s homes and documenting these precious early moments. My photography is so fulfilling because it brings joy and eternal memories to families.
I started this session like I do any other, with a tour of the home. Children get excited when I come into their space and turn into instant hosts, much different than in a studio that is foreign and maybe scary to them. The children adore taking me around and showing me their toys, and their perfectly decorated rooms, and eventually asking to play. We do play, but I always have my camera ready. The key is to capture them when they are most excited, usually within the first hour or so. After that, you become just like any other person in their home and they revert back to their natural feral state.
After selecting the rooms that will create the most beautiful gallery of images for my clients, I start working through the outfits and ideas that my clients are most excited about. Mom was very excited and proud to have received some designer baby items. Understandably, these are not meant to be worn on a daily basis so they are perfect for our shoot to commemorate them. It is very flattering to the gifter to have their items photographed and adored by the giftee, so I make a point of making sure these are documented during our session, if applicable.
Once the baby Dior items were photographed, I started putting my vision together. I was really inspired by this nursery and the beautiful light that was coming through the windows. Everything in this room screamed luxury and designer, the effort that was made to spoil their baby girl was not lost on me. In fact, it drove me to work harder to make sure I captured the space perfectly and in the most beautiful way. The baby was older than usual, about one month old. I was limited in my ability to pose her since she was much more sensitive and wakeful to the touch.
