Welp, the day finally came. I finally caved and did my very first fall themed newborn session. I have struggled with this very topic with parents over the years wanting a theme for their photos. Initially, I felt that it helped to date the photos. I still do. But at the end of the day, these images are not going up on my walls and I am still in the business of making people happy. I still incorporated all the elements into this session that I normally do, meaning that nothing was left out or compromised just because we had a fox hat.
For starters, the baby was still posed in a way I thought was flattering and appropriate. Hands and feet still had special attention, especially since (to me) they are the makers or breakers of photos. Secondly, everything was kept neutral and flattering. I have stood by this motto since the beginning of time. Let the baby be the focus rather than all the other ‘stuff’. Yes the orange is bright, but it helps bring the attention to the baby – exactly what I intended. Fall themed newborn session or not, it is still tasteful and the baby is still the focus.
Most importantly, the parents were overjoyed. I coincidentally pulled the fox theme out when we were chatting about themes and getting ready for the session. What I didn’t know was that the parents had decorated his room in a woodlands theme with foxes, and I also didn’t notice the fox blanket he showed up in. Subconsciously perhaps, this was the real inspiration for the session.
INSTAGRAM to keep up to date on promotions :) And because these are cute.
